Hey @karlfloersch when are you available to give this talk? |
Hey @snuggs! I'll actually be in NYC on the 9th, so if you'd like I could actually give it then. Sorry for the delay btw! I've been outside of NYC pretty consistently since around June |
@karlfloersch what about next month? |
What day do you expect it to be next month? Unfortunately probably won't know if I'll be in NYC until kind of the last minute, but I should be able to plan around the date with enough lead time |
@snuggs I see the meetup this month is on the 13th. Seems the talks are not set yet. If you'd like I'd be happy to give this one! 🙂 |
The internet is in the process of recreating itself, and every 6 months there's a new level playing field.
From Ruby Newbie to Web3.0 Newbie
Description
I've gone from Ruby Newbie to Web3 Newbie, and the only thing that hasn't changed is I'm still a newbie!
Client-server architecture has been around for ages. It's great if powerful computers are a scarce resource, or if you're a power hungry snooper. It works well, but times are changing and peer-to-peer architecture is taking over because computing is cheap and we are ready to fight against those greedy goliaths.
I can talk about web 3.0 on a high level, but ask me how it will look and I'll BS for days. I can't even keep up with changes in our browsers! We are going places that we have never been and no one knows what they are doing. Keeping up with this change is much less about what you know now, but how willing you are to forget what you thought and go in the other direction.
We are all on the same playing field because the target is constantly moving. If you want to contribute to an internet that's reinventing itself, I'd wager that reinventing yourself too is your only option. So let's do this! It'll be fun 😄
