[Feature Request] Add Category Dropdown to Composer #1948
Comments
I believe the composer has the category id available to it. This might be |
Having a new topic button at /home /recent /unread is also a good idea to go along with this, so you don't have to go into a category to post. |

That kind of implements both what I was suggesting and what barisusakli mentioned. What happens if I modify the dropdown while the composer is currently open? I wouldn't want my message to be wiped if I randomly decided to change the category. IMO at least, it still makes sense to put the control on the composer. Not that this doesn't make sense here, since the idea is to be able to start a new topic directly from an overview page. But I am not sure it is quite as use-able as one on the composer once already in the composer. And that dropdown doesn't let you know which category you are posting in, while in the composer either since it is a New Topic. So the confusion if I randomly looked at another topic while I was typing up my topic of which category I am in is still there. How would this work with a mobile device? If you were already in the composer could you still have access to this dropdown that is outside of it with a smaller screen? |
+1 @barisusakli nice. A huge boost in UX with this. |
I think it would be nifty if you added a dropdown to the composer that lets you choose which category you are posting too. Currently if you start a topic in a category, and leave that category, you might be confused where you are posting. Adding the dropdown lets you see which category and update the category if need be. I'm not sure how to fit this in with subcategories, but I know there has got to be a way.
