[App Shortcut Update] Stremio for Fire TV #484
Comments
Greetings @yjamal01! Thank you for reaching out and letting me know! The good news is that you haven't missed anything, it should just work. That's what I intend. However, with over 280 app launcher buttons available across seven different device families, keeping all of the launcher codes up to date can sometimes be a difficult task. When an app developer releases an update there is never a guarantee that the Firemote code will continue to work, so I frequently need to make updates. In addition to that, sometimes apk files are posted online that aren't genuine. For instance, if I can download an app from the Amazon App Store in my region, I know for a fact that the app launcher code I put into Firemote will work properly. However, if I sideload that app from a site that posted an older version, or they have posted a modified version of the app (potentially dangerous), there is a chance that the Firemote code that is correct for the genuine version of the app will not be able to launch the old or modified sideloaded version of the app. The good news is, I truly want to fix this for you! Before we begin, I will need some information from you, and I've done everything I can think of to make the process as simple as possible. First, please make a list of the app launcher buttons that have stopped, and/or have not been working for you. You mentioned Start Up Show (did you mean Startup Show TV, or Startup Show?) and Stremio. Next, follow the instructions listed here or watch this YouTube video (contains captions that can be translated to any language if English isn't your native language). For each app on your list, post the required information you get from following this procedure. As an example, if you were having troubles with the Netflix app, this is the response I'd need to see from you:
I hope all of that made sense. 😄 I look forward to hearing back from you soon! -Doug |
Thank you very much for your response and your creation of this wonderful project. When I am home tonight I will send over the details as per your instructions. Thanks! |
Thank you for your kind words! If you'd like to request an app launcher for Apollo Group TV, you can simply click this link and complete the form. Hope to hear from you soon! |
Stremio - I sure hope thats what you're looking for. I'll submit the request now for Apollo. Btw great job with the instructions. Very straight forward and easy to follow. As a non tech person, lots of integrations can be overwhelming and, understandingly, devs are not available to provide support. I have to say I was surprised when I saw all the shortcut options, and to have you respond so fast. Anyways sorry I know github is not the place for that, but thank you very much, please let me know if that helps and I will submit the apollo group tv now |
THANK YOU AGAIN for your kind words! I try to make things as easy as I can, so when I hear that I've done a great job with the instructions, that makes my day! You provided exactly the information that I was looking for! Thank you! I'll get to work on this request and the Apollo Group TV request soon. |
Tyvm! And of course. I had an integration in relied on a bit too heavily so I understand how privileged we as users are when developers not only share their products but help us troubleshoot. Unfortunately it's forgotten alot among humans in general, but hopefully the appreciation drowns out the entitlement. Thanks again |
Describe the bug
When using the app launcher on any remote, apps that were installed to the amazon app store (Netflix, Plex, Prime) work without issue. However sideloaded apps (Start Up Show, Stremio) do not seem to launch or do anything.
Tried looking online to see if there was something I needed to configure but from my searches it should just work once setup
To Reproduce
Setup app shortcut for sideloaded apps. Attempt to launch them from the HA firemote
Expected Behavior
All apps should launch when pressed, not only ones from amazon app store
Which Type of Device Do You Own?
FireCube
