Home Page Panel

Slider Options (Block 1)

The slider consists of a single block that cycles through the most recent posts from a particular “featured” category or categories. Use this panel to set the number of posts that appear in the slider as well as the category or categories from which the slider pulls from. There is an option to turn the autoplay feature on or off. The entire slider block can also be turned on or off.

  • Slider (Block 1): A toggle switch that turns the slider block on or off.
  • Number of Posts: This option allows users to control how many featured posts the slider will display. The number of posts the slider will rotate through is indicated by the number of circles at the bottom of the slider.
  • Number of Words in the Slider Post Title: This option controls how many words will appear in the title of each post in the slider.
  • Number of Words in the Slider Excerpt: This option controls how many words will be pull from the beginning of each post and displayed as the post excerpt in the slider.
  • Slider Post Category: This option is used to determine which category (or categories) the slider will pull posts from. If this option is left unset the slider will pull from uncategorized.
  • Slider Autoplay: This option determines whether the slider's autoplay function is turned on or off. The option is set to off by default but if turned on the slider will rotate through each post in regular intervals.

Block 2

The second block of the homepage consists of four “columns”. Each column displays a title which can also link to a page or post within the site. Each column can also include a Font Awesome icon. If you wish include an icon above the title, enter the css class name of the FontAwesome icon in the box(s) below.

  • Block 2: A toggle switch that turns the block on or off.
  • Make Column Title a Link: If this option is checked, the titles for each column will be formatted as a link. Link destinations can be set in the options for each column when this option is turned on. For each column the following options are available:
  • Column Icon: This field allows users to set a icon to display at the top of the column. Users should enter the css class of the FontAwesome icon they would like to use. (i.e. fa-taxi). See the FontAwesome Documentation for more information.
  • Column Title: Text for the column heading.
  • Column Title Link: This option will only appear if the "Make Column Title a Link" field is checked. This option can be used to select a page within the site to link to.
  • Column Text: The text in this column will be displayed in the column below the title. HTML is allowed in this field.

Block 3

The third block on the homepage consists of three columns. There is an option to add a second row for each column. Each of these six sections has a title with the option to make it a link. Each section also has an option to select which category will populate the field. Each section can also display an icon. If you wish include an icon above the title, enter the css class name of the FontAwesome icon in the box(s) below. The entire block can be turned on or off.

  • Block 3: A toggle switch that turns the block on or off.
  • Number of Rows in Block 3: Controls the number of rows that will appear in block 3. Each row in this block is made up of 3 columns.
  • Make Each Column Title a Link: If this option is checked, the titles for each column will be formatted as a link. Link destinations can be set in the options for each column when this option is turned on.
  • Column Icon: This field allows users to set a icon to display at the top of the column. Users should enter the css class of the FontAwesome icon they would like to use. (i.e. fa-taxi). See the FontAwesome Documentation for more information.

  • Category: Each column in Block 3 displays the most recent 3 posts from a selected category or categories. Use this option to select which category or categories the column should pull from.

Block 4

The fourth block of the homepage is a single row designed to feature some text or site information.. The row includes a title (with an option to make it a link) and text. The entire block can be turned on or off.

  • Block 4: A toggle switch that turns the block on or off.
  • Block Title: A title to appear at the top of the block.
  • Title Link: This option will only appear if the "Make Column Title a Link" field is checked. This option can be used to select a page within the site to link to.
  • Text: The text in this column will be displayed in the column below the title. HTML is allowed in this field.

Block 5

The fifth block of the homepage is a single row. This row includes a title that can also link to a page or post within the site. The entire block can be turned on or off.

  • Block 5: A toggle switch that turns the block on or off.
  • Block Title: Text for the block heading.
  • Block Title Link: This option can be used to select a page within the site that the block title should link to.
  • Block 5 Category: Block 5 will display the most recent 5 posts from a selected category or categories. Use this option to select which category or categories the block should pull from.

Footer

Edit the content and appearance of the footer on the homepage.

  • Footer: A toggle switch that turns the footer on or off.
  • Display Copyright and Sitename: If turned on, the copyright year (current year) and the name of the site will be printed in the footer.
  • Toggle Footer Text: if turned on, any additional text or html added in the "Footer Text" option will be output.

Design Elements Panel

Colors

  • Top Bar Background Color: Allows selection of the background color for the header bar.
  • Top Bar Text Color: Allows selection of the font color for the header bar.
  • Icon Color: Allow selection of the color of the icons used in blocks 2 and 3.
  • Slider Gradient (Color #1): Allows selection of the color for the top of the slider gradient. This color will display at the top of the slider, and will blend into the user’s selected color for Slider Gradient (Color #2).
  • Slider Gradient (Color #2): Allows selection of the color for the bottom of the slider gradient. This color will display at the bottom of the slider, and will blend into the user’s selected color for Slider Gradient (Color #1).
  • Slider Bullets: Allows selection of the color of the bullets at the bottom of the slider used to navigate between pieces.
  • Block 2 Color: Allows selection of the background color for block 2.
  • Block 2 Link Color: Allows selection of color for Block 2 Title text, as well as the color of the link while it is being clicked (Active) and the color of the link while the mouse is over it (hover).
  • Block 2 Text Color: Allows selection of color for Block 2 body text.
  • Block 3 Background Color - Allows selection of color for Block 3 background.
  • Block 3 Link Color - Allows selection of color for Block 3 Title and body text as well as the color of the link while it is being clicked (Active) and the color of the link while the mouse is over it (hover).
  • Block 4 Background Color - Allows selection of color for Block 4 background. Block 4 Text Color: Allows selection of color for Block 4 body text.
  • Block 4 Link Color Allows selection of color for links in the Block 4 body or title text as well as the color of the link while it is being clicked (Active) and the color of the link while the mouse is over it (hover).
  • Block 5 Text Color: Allows selection of color for Block 5 body text.
  • Block 5 Link Color: - Allows selection of color for links in the Block 5 body or title text as well as the color of the link while it is being clicked (Active) and the color of the link while the mouse is over it (hover).
  • Block 5 Gradient (Color #1): Allows selection of the color for the top of the Block 5 gradient. This color will display at the top of Block 5, and will blend into the user’s selected color for Block 5 Gradient (Color #2).
  • Block 5 Gradient (Color #2): Allows selection of the color for the bottom of the Block 5 gradient. This color will display at the bottom of the Block 5, and will blend into the user’s selected color for Block 5 Gradient (Color #1).
  • Site Background Color: Allows selection of the color of the site on all posts.
  • Post Background Color: Allows selection of the color of the immediate background on all posts.
  • Sitewide Link Color: Allows all links on the site to be given a uniform display color, as well as uniform hover and active colors. Changing link colors in the individual box options will override the sitewide link color for those blocks.

Fonts

Body Fonts

  • Font Family: Allows the selection of a uniform font for all body text on the site.
  • Font Size: Allows the selection of the size of all body text on the site.
  • Line Height: Adjusts the spacing between the lines of all body text on the site.
  • Letter Spacing: Adjusts the spacing between the individual letters of body text on the site.
  • Color: Changes the color of all body text on the site.

Header Fonts

  • Font Family: Allows the selection of a uniform font for all header text on the site.
  • Variant: Allows users to select how bold the header font will be.
  • Line Height: Adjusts the spacing between the lines of all header text on the site.
  • Letter Spacing: Adjusts the spacing between the individual letters of header text on the site.
  • Color: Changes the color of all header text on the site.

Content Options

  • Logo: Allows the user to select an image to appear in the upper left corner of the top bar.
  • Logo height: How many pixels tall the logo will display as.
  • Logo Width: How many pixels wide the logo will display as.
  • Breadcrumbs: A toggle switch that allows the user to turn Breadcrumbs on or off. Breadcrumbs are a series of links that appear at the top of a post showing the user where they are in the sitemap and providing them links to return to the homepage.

Author Display Options

The options below control how the author name will display on posts. If "Author Name and Link" is set to on, the theme will display the WordPress author as expected. If turned off, the theme will display the text entered in "Text to Display Rather than Author Name." The categories selected in "Display Author for Categories (Exclude Author Link)" will display the authors name without a link to the author's archive of posts. Turning the author name and link off however can be overridden for select categories using the "Display Author for Categories (Include Author Link)" option. The categories selected in this option will display the author's name and a link to the author's archive of posts as normal.

  • Display Author Name and Link: A toggle that selects whether posts will the author’s name, as well as a link to a page displaying all of their work that has appeared on the site.
  • Text to Display Rather than the Author Name: If Display Author Name and Link is set to off, this text will appear in place of the author’s name.
  • Display Author for Categories (Exclude Author Link): If Display Author Name and Link is set to off, author names will be displayed in the selected categories without a link to all of their work on the site.
  • Display Author for Categories (Include Author Link): If Display Author Name and Link is set to off, author names will be displayed in the selected categories with a link to all of their work on the site.
  • Display Nomination Count on Featured Posts: When set to ‘On’, post pages will display the number of nominations the post received. This option only affects posts in the category used for the slider.

PressForward Nomination Count

This option displays the nomination count for only the featured items that appear in the slider.

  • Display Nomination Count on Featured Items: If on, this option displays the number of PressForward nominations a post received. It will only display this number if PressForward is installed and active, the post was drafted using PressForward, and the post is in the featured (or the slider) category.

Comment Form Display Options

  • Turn All Comments On: The comment form will display on all posts.
  • Turn All Comments Off: The comment form will not be displayed on any posts.
  • Turn Comments ON but only for Specific Categories: Comment forms will be displayed for the selected categories.
  • Comments on for Specific Categories: Allows users to select the categories that will have comments if the ‘Turn Comments ON but only for Specific Categories’ option is selected.
