What is the expected enhancement?

A "transitive reduction" algorithm.

Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transitive_reduction

Functionality should be similar to networkx: https://networkx.org/documentation/stable/reference/algorithms/generated/networkx.algorithms.dag.transitive_reduction.html
