Hi, I wanted to work on making a higher-quality version of the cozy blobfox emote, but for that I'd need the grid-dark in svg format. I can only find it in PNG format (not very suited for vector art) and in afdesign format (which I can't open on linux), so could someone with AFDesigner export this file in svg or some other vector format that doesn't depend on proprietary tools?

That's not actually how the emote was created - it's considerably older than those two banner grids, and you'll get a result which has very inaccurate colours.
The emote was originally created using a waifu2x'd version of the original Feuerfuchs cozy blobfox emote, using a copy of the Quilt logo that was tiled manually without the angular corner. SVGs for that are available in the branding/ folder, as well as an Illustrator file.
It's true that the Affinity team have posted some comments about not opening the file format. Without the Affinity tools, you're not going to be able to open the project files, and they just don't run on Linux. This is unfortunately the norm when it comes to graphic design tooling, and Linux lacks the userbase for professional tools. It also lacks open-source software with usable UX, in my opinion.
It'd be nice if Affinity could run in Wine someday, though, but it can't.
I've actually gone ahead and recreated the Cozy icon myself as a SVG file, based on the dark version of the Quilt logo and the regular comfy blobfox emote. Will open a PR containing that once the repo finishes cloning
