1. Don't multitask: Be present. Be in that moment.(不要三心二意,心不在焉)

2. Don't pontificate.(不要好为人师)

3. Use open-minded questions.(使用开放式的问题)

4. Go with the flow.(顺其自然)

5. If you don't know, say that you don't know.(知之为知之,不知为不知)

6. Don't equate your experience with theirs: conversations are not a promotional opportunity.(不要把自己的经历跟别人的经历比较,试图抬高自己)

7. Try not to repeat yourself.(不要老是重复说你自己的事)

8. Stay out of the weeds: people don't care about the details, what they care about is you. so forget the details in conversation.(少说废话)

  • "If your mouth is open, you're not learning."
  • "No one ever listened his way out of a job."
  • "Most of us don't listen with the intent to understand. We listen with the intent to reply."

10.Be brief.(简明扼要)

A good conversation is like miniskirt, short enough to retain interest, but long enough to cover the subject.

Conclusion

  • Be interested in other people.
  • Go out, talk to people, listen to people, and most importantly, be prepared to be amazed.

New things come from what are called our weak ties.
