PR Summary:

Adds help text to the "Variant Pills" settings area.

Why are these changes introduced?

The "Variant Pills" name sounds quite technical. Providing some additional context to the user can help with that.

What approach did you take?

I added some help text based on the description of this area from Shopify's help pages:
https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/theme-structure/theme-settings#variant-pills

Visually, I copied the approach we already use for help text in the "Dropdowns and Pop-ups" area.

Other considerations

This could use a content review. (cc @katycobb)
Not sure how translation works here. Guidance would be appreciated!

Hi Kjell, thanks for tagging me! I think I’d like to add a caveat to the help text to indicate this only has an affect when the variant picker “pills” option is selected (versus the dropdown option).

To keep the text as concise as possible while also future-proofing it, I’d recommend not calling out specific sections. Since we’re mentioning “product variants” I think the merchant will understand this will show up on product pages.

Suggested copy below, but def up for jamming on this more if you’d like.

Also cc’ing @melissaperreault here for review since she has a super deep understanding of the global theme settings and may have some additional thoughts.

Re: translation, the workflow is largely handled through Github. You can see the Translation-platform in the "Checks" section. I believe once the PR is approved it'll trigger the translation workflow. If the content is ever something complicated or needing further explanation, there's a slack channel to help with that.

Is the clarity we are aiming for here more for what the setting will do or to define what "Variant pills" are?
I was also wondering if we could go with a shorter form to convey the same thing?

Personally, I kind of like this one — it's straightforward and to the point. Might also be worthwhile to link to the help page here? (Though it has that "button" name caveat that @melissaperreault mentioned. 😕)

@kjellr I'd suggest this slight tweak on the straightforward approach. "Product variant picker type option" might be a bit technical/obscure.
