Important! If you are migrating from version 5.x.x.x, open application folder and run alienfx-conv to convert registry configuration. In case you don't do so, you lost your color and effect settings (forever), as well as haptics and ambient settings (until converted).

Most important change into this release:

The most important change is completely rewritten fan control SDK. Instead of using ACPI access driver, it now access to the functions needed via the hole into Windows WMI interfaces.

Pro:

• No more "security" warnings from antivirus and driver load blocking.
• Wider model support - all of them have the same hole for fan and power control.
• Possibility to use wider sensor range, including 3rd party monitoring products (Currently Open Hardware Monitor supported).
• Overclock. I have access to overclock methods right now, and add this possibility later on.
• Smaller code and package size (it's more easy and require no driver/loader code).

Contra:

• A bit higher CPU load (Windows WMI provider consume some as well).
• No more GPU power limit (and i don't sure i can return it back).
• Some AMD platform sensors are still unavailable (but i'm working on it). By the way, Dell put Intel(!) sensor blocks in AMD system BIOSes.

Other changes:

All fan control GUI apps:

• New: Temperature sensor names now can be edited.
  • Clear name string (make it empty) to restore names from BIOS default.
• Power mode now restore back after g-mode off.
• Performance tuning for monitoring.
• Bug fixed: Exception in case of more stored sensor data than existing amount.

AlienFan-GUI:

• New: "Disable AWCC" option into system menu - it will stop AWCC service at application start and run it back then quit.
• Bug fixed: Incorrect max. temperature readings in fan GUI.

AlienFX-GUI:

• Beta mappings for m15R3 added to device database (keyboard only).
• Deleting zone used in other profiles didn't provide dialog box anymore, it's just deleted from active profile only.
• Performance tuning for Ambient and Haptic (Haptics now not audio data-driven, but time-driven).
• Bug fixed: Monitoring dialog changes does not refresh grid in some cases.
• Bug fixed: Incorrect active application switch in some cases.
• Bug fixed: Tray icon tooltip not shown after startup until profile changed.
• Bug fixed: Removing all haptics/ambient/monitoring settings from zone can provide the situation, then it can't be created again.
• Bug fixed: Incorrect HDD activity readings in monitoring.

AlienFX-Mon:

• Tray icons will be re-created after explorer restart.

Known issues:

• Only AWCC default sensors available at AMD systems.
• Windows now have a bug with USB device control (it reset it under heavy load). This made Ambient and Haptic stall for some seconds randomly. I made some counter-measures against it, but it can still appear. Seems like it's a way Microsoft fix issues with printers (instead of trace USB chain changes, provide it).
