Errors in grading executors cause additional error if grading logs are NoneType

Describe the bug
We try to filter out NULL characters before committing the grading logs to the database. If an error occurs inside the executors themselves, the grading logs may be null and this causes an additional error.

Expected behavior
Check if None beforehand.
