We want to be able to build the executable off the server and deploy it separately.

See this article for a guide.

commercialhaskell/stack#3420 is also relevant, as is the fpcomplete article it refers to.

Using nix may make this unnecessary. Cross compiling for 32bit should, in theory, also be straightforward.
