Description - Split MTCLIM out from VIC into a stand-alone executable. Remove OUTPUT_FORCE option.
Optional? - No
Comment - Sandalone MTCLIM would need to output in standard VIC forcing format (netCDF).

See issue #23 for more details on forcing format.

@bartnijssen , do you see this going into VIC 5.0 or 5.1?

5.1: 5.0 will mostly be a port of 4.2 with multiple drivers but no added functionality beyond that.

An alternative would be that it would be neither, but that the pre-processor gets its own name and versioning, which may be cleaner and preferable.

I guess my question was when do you think we will remove it from the VIC source code? From your comment above, that seems to be slated for 5.1.

The development of the standalone preprocessor will MTCLIM 5.0 and is being handled in the https://github.com/UW-Hydro/mtclim repository.

Yes - it’s already out of the image driver, but will still be part of the 5.0 classic driver
