MNML Conky

Description

A clean and simple Conky theme derived from Conky Vision

This Conky theme shows the time, date, current weather, and forecast for the next 4 days while keeping a minimal interface

Dependencies

Depends on:

• git
• conky 1.10.x (build)
• curl (build)
• jq (build)
• gawk (build)
• Conky Vision (Conky theme)
• OpenWeatherMap (weather forecast)
• Poiret One (fonts)

Installation Steps (Ubuntu 20.04)

1. Register an account on OpenWeatherMap to get a free private API key for weather forecasts

2. Find your City ID from OWM's list

3. Update repositories with

   # apt update
   

4. Install software dependencies with

   # apt install git conky-all curl jq gawk
   

5. Install Conky Vision, see Installation

   • Clone repo with

     $ git clone https://github.com/zagortenay333/conky-Vision.git
     

   • Change current directory to cloned repo with

     $ cd conky-Vision
     

   • Run install script with

     $ ./install
     

6. Install MNML Conky

   • Clone repo with

     $ git clone https://github.com/VaughnValle/mnml_conky.git
     

   • Change current directory to cloned repo with

     $ cd mnml_conky
     

   • Copy .conkyrc and replace the current one in your home directory with

     # cp .conkyrc /path/to/home
     

   • Edit the .conkyrc file with any text editor you prefer with

     for nano:

     # nano /path/to/home/.conkyrc
     

   • Place your OWM API key in the template6 variable of the file.

     template6="[Place OWM API key here]",
     

   • Place your City ID in the template7 variable of the file.

     template7="[Place City ID here]",
     

   • Save your changes with Ctrl+X; hit Y then Enter when prompted (for nano)

   • Run Conky with

     $ conky 
     

   • Enjoy :)
