Feedback from @richtabor:

In “Manual” I expected all of the grid indicators to be the same size. It’s not really a grid right now and it’s difficult predicting where things will go. And when I drag to resize something, they can shift/reposition, causing me to loose confidence on the placement I intended.

Right now cells are sized by the browser according to the CSS grid, but I can see the argument for forcing the grid to stay fixed. Let's discuss.
