Future reservations cause earlier ones to fail

From BMEC / Chris: they're having an issue where, if a user has a future reservation for a given item, they are unable to create an earlier reservation for the same type of item. I was unable to reproduce this issue on my development instance but they have multiple examples (with screenshots below). We need to

• reproduce this issue
• figure out what's going on (some kind of weird validator overlap, maybe?), and
• fix it.
