Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I'm always frustrated that when I am moving icons between overlapping windows, my selection of icons gets unselected when clicking on the title bar, the volume info header, the scrollbar or the resize box of the same window or another window.

Describe the solution you'd like
The selection of icons should not get unselected when clicking on the title bar, the volume info header, the scrollbar or the resize box of the same window or another window, just like the early Mac and the IIGS.

Describe alternatives you've considered
There are no alternative solutions or features that I can think of for this scenario.

Additional context
There is no other context or screenshots about this feature request here.

Selection can only be in the desktop or the active window, so if another window is activated selection will be cleared. That's not going to change.

No repro, but perhaps you're not describing the steps clearly enough. If you have icons within a window selected, and click on that windows non-content areas the selection doesn't change. If you click on another window's non-client areas, then the other window is activated and the selection is cleared.

Do you really mean "clicking" - mouse down then up - or do you mean dropping?

In the early Mac and the IIGS, the selection of icons is not cleared when "clicking" - mouse down then up - on the same window's or another window's title bar, volume info header, scrollbar or resize box. This is extremely useful when used in conjunction with issue #353 for moving or copying icons between overlapping windows, especially moving or copying icons from one window to a folder in a second window that is hidden by the overlapping portion of the two windows.

In this scenario, in the early Mac and the IIGS, the selection of icons is not cleared whether another window is or is not activated.

Okay - sounds like it is working as intended, although not to your preference. Closing.

In reference to your comment above, unlike the Mac and the IIGS, clicking on the volume info header in the same window in Apple II DeskTop currently also clears the selection of icons.

Please reopen this issue. I still think that this issue is an important issue to be implemented because this would greatly increase the usability of Apple II DeskTop.
