macOS IFTTT Control is very easy to install and requires little configuration. To use macOS IFTTT Control you need an IFTTT and Dropbox account.

Downloading macOS IFTTT Control

First of all you need to download the latest version of macOS IFTTT Control, you can download it from this GitHub repository or from the official project web page: https://github.com/abdyfranco/macos-ifttt-control/releases

Installing macOS IFTTT Control

Once downloaded the zip file, unzip it. Once unzipped the file, move the app /macOSIFTTTControl.app to the Applications folder of your Mac, double-click to open the app and then follow the instructions given by the app.

  • A file with the name of the hash shown on the screen will be created on the Desktop (Note that the hash is different for each Mac, and the one shown here is for example purposes only). Now you must create a folder in the root of your Dropbox account called "macOSIFTTTControl" and inside that folder upload the file created by the installation wizard, then go into your Dropbox account to the file you recently uploaded and generate a share link. The generated link must have the following format: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e.

  • Once the link is generated, copy it and paste it into the app and click the Install button. And you're done! The hash of your Mac will be shown on screen which you should keep in a safe place, as it will be necessary to identify your Mac in IFTTT.
