Base is a semantic, lightweight and extensible grid framework and CSS reset. It was created around a series of ideals:

• That we need a powerful, responsive grid that doesn't rely on descriptor classes.
• That a CSS framework should be easily extensible, it shouldn't need to be undone or overwritten.
• That framework code should be fast, light and extremely minimal.

At its core Base is a responsive grid system coupled with a sensible normalising CSS foundation.
