Server:Ubuntu 10.4 Server
java-6-openjdk(default)

check [r262] or try the latest version
if that don't work, try install sun-jdk instead of open-jdk
and use update-alternate to select sun-jdk as the default jdk

after tested on ubuntu10.4 with openjdk
i believe the r267 now fixed your problem with open-JDK
