Found a package that solved this for me: AtomicChar (Tried with Input Sans) |

+1 tested to work (Helvetica/Palatino for English, HiraginoSansGB-W3/HYQiHeiX1 for mixed Chinese/English). Thanks @barissenkal |

Yep, looks like AtomicChar has gone away and I can't find any replacement packages. |

Has anyone come across a solution for this? Or any indication of interest in fixing it? This problem essentially means proportional fonts are unusable in Atom, which is discouraging. |

With Palatino (16pt) there are obvious spaces on the right:
