If one wants to flash a bootloader with avrispv2, avrdude will correctly write to the chip, but will always fail to read the flash to perform the verification.
It seems that when using avrispv2, avrdude does not know that all memory before the first byte written is set to 0xFF.

Joerg says that using JTAG ICE does not show the problem. So the bug may be related only to avrispv2/stk500v2
