Due to the down times today, I think it would be very beneficial for marketplaces to be notified with system status updates as opposed to finding out through their customers.

I am thinking something even along the lines of an email to the marketplace support address or something similar.

Agreed. The status page is super helpful and proactively notifying the marketplaces is even more helpful in my opinion.

@khussein can you give us some feedback here regarding how we're doing? the status page feeds into the very core of our system at this point.

@khussein, should we build some functionality that allows you to report a production issue (probably using github) or is there another medium you'd like for us to incorporate to allow you to notify us if there's any issues that we're not monitoring.

@khussein right now, we're using github + twitter + the status page.

I think notifying you with downtime is important, but even more important is you notifying marketplaces when you have an issue. The only way that I discover an issue with Balanced downtime now is through a customer calling us and complaining that the payment didn't go through. I would prefer a pro-active communication where you'd notify marketplaces with downtime as soon as it happens. That way they have heads up and figure out how to communicate with customers.

@khussein Does it work to follow balancedstatus on Twitter?

This will be implemented by adding SMS notifications similar to Heroku.

The issue has not yet been prioritized and does not have a defined timeline.

I'll update this issue tomorrow based on the timeline for it to be released, so you can subscribe to status updates via text message and email.

Designing the notification feature for our status page currently. I'll post the mock by EOD.

We're working on building the notification service according to @dmdj03 mocks.

@dmdj03 is this the same colour scheme as used in the dashboard and docs? if you can confirm then we can make this a common component to use on all sites.
