Use variables for any AL setting

I have a wake-up routine that changes depending on the schedule for that day. For example, I would like to be able to set the sunrise time to an existing variable that is managed elsewhere and I would like for AL to sync itself to that time.

Is that possible? When I tried entering the variable name into the AL UI, it said "invalid option" and wouldn't let me save it.

Any insight anyone has, either to achieve this directly, or by hacking it to work, would be greatly appreciated.
