Looks like you have a Wayland only desktop environment without XWayland support for X11 compatibility. Bevy currently disables Wayland support by default. You can enable it using the wayland feature.

By the way which distro and desktop environment are you using? I haven't seen any Wayland compositor without XWayland support before.

Maybe you could try with the DISPLAY env var set to :0?

i did set DISPLAY=0 and set env DISPLAY=0 but i still get this error

I meant :0, not 0. The double colon is important.

so its set DISPLAY=:0 ?

well because after doing that and running cargo run i get this

For me export DISPLAY=:1 worked (bevy=0.9.0, popos20.04, X11, but the error message looked similar to yours)
