What

On September 20th 2018 we will try to get as many people as possible to place offers on Bisq as a way to kick-start liquidity after the summer and also launch the newest release.

Objective

Reach maximum number of offers published during 1 day.

Hypothesis

If we can reach 300 offers published on one day we will see a new high in number of trades.

Experiment Design

IF offers >300
THEN trades > 50

Bounty

Participants in the experiment (creating at least 1 offer on this day) will be rewarded with 10 $BSQ.

To reach 300 offers we would need 60 users x 5 offers each. It won't be easy, but it can be done. There's 640+ people on Bisq slack... so if every person there posts 1 offer we could do it easily.

We should definitely use this day to do some live demos of trades for different currencies/payment methods and show the offer book live...

In think the key to reaching this goal will be to set the date with plenty of lead time and promote heavily, making sure to communicate to all current and potential Bisq users.

Things we can do as part of the Kick-start day (all ideas welcome):

Communication
-Post reminders 10, 5, 1 day before on all social media (Twitter, reddit, bitcointalk, etc).
-Live tweet on September 20th with how it's going.
-Live hangout with tutorials, demos. Showcase payment methods, etc.

Recruit
-Try to get at least 30 people to commit to participating in advance. Recruit from Slack, Reddit, Bitcointalk. Approach Localbitcoin traders.
-Ideally get them to post here saying that they are in.

-Recruit at least 2 participants from China.
-Recruit at least 2 participants from Mexico.
-Recruit at least 2 participants from India.
-Recruit at least 2 participants from South Africa.
-Recruit at least 2 participants from Russia.

@pricenofeth Let's say from 0:00 GMT to 23:55 GMT.

But in reality many of us will probably start placing offers from the previous day and leave them on for more than the 20th. But any effort is welcome. Even if you can only keep your offers on for a few hours on the 20th, that's better than nothing.

For reddit:

  1. Censorship resistance
  2. Privacy
  3. User control of funds

These are the 3 key reasons why decentralized exchanges are fundamental for Bitcoin to succeed. They are not theoretical risks, but very real threats: We have hundreds of examples of users losing funds after ceding control to a custodial exchange. We have dozen of cases of goverments blocking or regulating exchanges out of existence. And we have an ever increasing number of exchanges being forced or choosing to invade user privacy through KYC, AML and other intrusive (and exclusive) requirements... and then leaking or selling that information.

Bisq is currently the best available option to exchange Bitcoin without sacrificing privacy, ceding control of your bitcoins to a third party or allowing censorship of any kind.

We have 38 commitments.

If we can reach 40 and each person places 5 offers that should get us to 200.

However if we each try to get one more person in these 24 hours we should be able to reach 300. Let's go for it!
