Segwit2x Pre-release
Pre-release
  • This release represents the implementation of segwit2x as of 2017-06-09. Please refer to btc1#11 for more details.
  • When running this code, be aware that testnet mode connects to "testnet5", which is distinct from the normal "testnet3".

Directions for use with testnet5:

  1. download and decompress the archive
  2. run (or configure) bitcoind/bitcoin-qt with the option: -testnet (testnet=1).

Details about testnet5:

Testnet5 was hard forked from testnet3 at block height 10000. The reason for this was to leverage some of Gavin's tests in those early blocks. Also, there is a new network magic number: 0x6e657400 for testnet5 and a new port number was chosen to be 18555 (p2p). Finally, a new seed vector was added at seed.testnet5.b-pay.net. Please contact me to add your own seed; this would be appreciated.

The builds for Mac and Windows include disk images and installers, respectively. They have the designation "unsigned". This means that these binaries aren't digitally signed per the operating system's internal application checking mechanisms. In the case of Mac, this is the addition of a certificate that is counter-signed by Apple through their application developer program (developers have to pay a yearly fee for this). In the case of Windows, new applications downloaded from the general Internet must include a certificate that is also signed by one of the trusted certificate authorities already on the system. In other words, very much like making an ordinary https connection. TL;DR, if you decide to use these files, then expect to have to override messages about being from an untrusted source, etc. Since this is NOT a final release, we won't go to the trouble of applying those resources.

  • Uses logical times for the timestamp index for deterministic range queries, in block order, between two timestamps. This will apply to all timestamp indexes going forward, and with a reindex will apply to all past timestamp indexes. The logical time of a block is actual timestamp of the block, unless it is less than (earlier) the previous block's logical time, and in that case it is one second greater than the previous block's logical time. This keeps the timestamp index sorted in the same order as the blocks. #29
  • Fixes a bug with the addressindex test so that the tests will be deterministic. #30
