I can select something with the box and I can activate it with the hotkey, but it doesn't capture anything and doesn't show a popup with the grabbed text. It also doesn't copy anything into the clipboard.

The main functionality works and I can OCR downloaded pictures.

I know you're not the dev, but I've also tried Cloe and it does the same thing.

Running via WINE on a Arch Linux.

Are you holding the mouse button when doing external captures? When you let go of the left mouse button, the external window is closed. This same behavior is implemented in Cloe

I'm able to do the mouse drag over the desired text with external capture but nothing shows up on the program

Yes, but are you holding the left mouse button? You have to wait a bit before the text result shows up on the screen. Notice in this demo where I'm not letting go of the button unless the text "popup" is shown

I admit I haven't waited, but now after trying and waiting, it's showing text blocks with few kanji and closes automatically by itself still showing nothing on the program itself. (mind you, I have Japanese installed, it shouldn't be character blocks)

Ok that was the problem for me. I just didn't hold the left click down long enough. Thanks!
