The supported PHP versions are not clear or consistent.

./composer.json#/require/php = ">=5.3"
./.travis.yml#/php lowest is 5.6
./tests/ContinuousOptionParserTest.php#L31 uses short array syntax [] which was introduced in PHP 5.4

PHP 7.2 everywhere

Fixed as part of other issue.
