Distributing Python is difficult. It'd be nice if I rewrote this in a compiled language and distributed binaries.

Candidates:

  • Vala

    • neat little language
    • docs lackluster
    • Gnome-specific
    • IDK for how long it will exist
  • Rust

    • Liked by Gnome folks
    • difficult for me to learn
    • non-generic build system
  • Go

    • Google, eww
    • nice language but sometimes way too simple
    • AFAIK has nice Qt bindings too
    • non-generic build system
  • C

    • u later
  • Nim

    • significant whitespace BIG no
  • Zig

    • Interesting
  • C++

    • I've heard some praise for Gtkmm
    • Qt
    • But, C++ 😱
