5.2 Having access to local files

The aim of a documentation system is, also, to be able to add links to notes that points on files stored on our hard disk or any available network drive.

For security reasons, browsers don't allow to have links like file:///\\server\share\file and throw error Error “Not allowed to load local resource:”. There is no standard solution for bypassing this measure, no security exception allowed but ... there is an extension for Chrome and Firefox called "Local Explorer" for this.

Thanks to that extension, any file:/// link will be captured by the plugin who'll make possible to open files stored outside the web application folder.
