starting point/new release

this project in combination with apko looks pretty interesting, but I'm not sure about the best point where to start:

• dev is fast moving
• but latest release is from the beginning of June https://github.com/chainguard-dev/melange/releases
• in commit history, there are many red cross commits https://github.com/chainguard-dev/melange/commits/main
• from the same person some commits were signed, others weren't

could you give any advice?
Is there a new release on the way? Is starting with code from main a good idea?
Looked also into list milestone, but it seems not be in use

A new release is coming, probably next week. The red cross commits are because I do not use gitsign as it introduces too much friction with my setup.

melange 0.2 was shipped since this bug was opened, and melange 0.3 is due out this week.
