The rack gear module appears to generate only a kind of V cut. I'm fairly sure rack gears should share the involute shape that corresponds to their respective pinion gear.
Or are my eyes just wonky?

The involute profile is what happens when you take a trapezoidal shaped rack and "wrap" it around a cylinder to create a spur gear.. in other words, as the gear radius approaches infinity, the involute profile approaches a straight line.
TL;DR Straight cut trapezoidal teeth are correct for the rack ;)
