Support for metadata textures? #266

So before we get into the request, lets have a little story time. I am a co-owner of a creative server that focuses on building the most realistic things possible. We have 5 cities based very closely off ones in real life as well as very detailed terrain, vehicles, and other mechanics. We wanted to get even more detailed so I added metadata road textures to our server resource pack, which makes the roads look extremely detailed and nice.
The only problem is, I always used chunky in the past when we only used wool for our roads, and it worked fine. But now that we have metadata roads, they don't show up properly in chunky and the renders don't look good.

So, is there any chance that we could see metadata support in newer updates? I myself am not a coder so I could be wrong, but I don't see why it should be so hard that chunky can just access the files for metadata textures in the loaded resource pack. So instead of seeing a block as id 5, it sees it as id 5:7, just like it does for wool and stained glass.

Support for metadata textures would help me a lot, and I decided to throw in one of my renders just to show you what I'm talking about!

Thanks,

This could probably be implemented. I will look into it.

I would love to second this request. My server also depends on the connected textures mod for custom blocks. I'm working on using Chunky for beautiful pre-rendered building tutorials but it doesn't really work when a build requires some custom metadata.

I will probably go ahead with the tutorial writing and rendering but it would be fantastic to update the images in the future with the actual correct textures.

I myself would also love to see this as a feature. I have been going around asking people what program they use for renders that include MetaData and Biome Specific blocks, not a single person has had an answer. I also asked these people if they'd use a program like Chunky if it had no Metadata or Biomes Specific support, be it that every builder I asked builds with these two amazing features... Most, not all said no. Metadata and Biome Specific blocks have really been the new way to build in Minecraft, it can turn a simple cobble wall into a highly detailed work of art, and it sucks to see a program as beautiful as this not have support for it. I myself spend 1 to 2 hours detailing with Metadata and Biome Specific blocks, even when I'll be using Chunky to render the build. It really just discourages me to do the best I can do on the build because no one will even see the detail in the beautiful renders, and my computer can't handle Shaders so I'm kinda stuck at that point. Many servers like mine, Ravand, and the builder's above require Metadata, and this feature would do great for the community and the program itself immensely. I really hope this feature gets added. That's all. :D

@PickleDyck I am still planning to look at this, but I can not at the moment. That's all I can say at the moment. When I know more I will update this issue and you will get notified via GitHub.
