Error reprojecting to LL system

I was able to build CouchDB 2.1.1 with hastings and easton and successfully execute a bbox query, but if I query the view with lat/lon/radius, CouchDB responds with

{"error":"unknown_error","reason":"Error reprojecting to LL system."}

Reproducible with kontrollanten/couchdb-hastings docker image

Any pointers would be appreciated.
