Tests run slooooow

Another low-priority item, but I notice that the tape tests are quite slow...30-40 seconds on my machine. Any idea what might be causing this (besides the sync fs stuff)?

That would be my guess. All of the tests do that. I'm very open to ideas on how to test Gulp tasks in a more sane way.
