One debian-based system that might be OK to use is antiX linux because systemd is not used (uses either sysV or runit) and it is lightweight (~ alpine). I got both the "net" and "core" 386 runit isos to boot to a command line. |

I have seen examples of these type of emulators that boot up pretty quickly. So it should not have to take ten minutes. I tested alpine on docker last week, not so bad. Well you know what I want. An emulator that boots up quickly and where I can save the state and preconfigure/customize the virtual device. |
