I am trying to run android x86 9.0-r2 but when I select a option it just goes back to the startup screen. I select vesa mode like it says, and I tried other modes too. anyone know what to do?

It looks like v86 is not able to emulate the required instructions for android x86 9.0. Also, Android Pie will load veeeery slowly on v86. Here are the attempts to run Android on v86:
#224, #397.

I have also tried Android x86 1.6-r2 and it did the same thing.

1.6 just takes awhile it eventually does attempt to boot that takes up to a hour or later

I was able to download the "vanilla" image off this page and boot it up in a few min using vesa mode. That'll be kitkat 4.4

I uploaded Android 4 here: https://copy.sh/v86/?profile=android4 It takes a long time to start and downloads at lot of data, so proceed with caution. Also updated the readme.

Since most versions of Android work (module SSE3 and other bits) I will close this issue.
