The primary maintainer of the moby-engine (docker) package in Fedora is no longer active. A volunteer has been limping along but is asking for more help. We should consider the state of things here and see if there is any action for us to take.

The primary maintainer of the moby-engine (docker) package is Fedora is no longer active.

He also maintained containerd and helped eclipseo maintain its go libraries. It's not just one package.

A volunteer has been limping along but is asking for more help. We should consider the state of things here and see if there is any action for us to take.

I have been reasonably on top of containerd and moby's updates, but it's not the area that I'm most interested in. It would be nice to have a co-maintainer with whom to split up the work. The go libraries that containerd depends on are in worse shape. Note that moby is vendored but containerd is not.

If you want to stop by the next Go SIG meeting, we could discuss the situation in more detail.

We briefly discussed that in today's community meeting. @copperii offered to take a look at the packages.

Do we have any updates for this one? The packages are still owned by the current maintainer.

The nonresponsive maintainer process was started for this maintainer. containerd and moby-engine, as well as some of the libraries they depend on will be orphaned. I'll probably pick them up as the primary maintainer, but I'd still appreciate other contributors.

It has been orphaned, waiting to see if someone will pick it up before further actions.

I think @gotmax23 was waiting to see if anyone else picked it up first. Not sure how much time is left.

Typhoon uses containerd at some scale, so I have some interest in helping maintain https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/containerd, though RPMs aren't my usual area and I'm not a current package maintainer. Not the ideal pick, but maybe learning the ropes for a bit is viable.

Took a stab at bumping containerd @copperii @gotmax23 https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/containerd/pull-request/4

It looks like containerd has been picked up but moby-engine hasn't, and automatic retirement is imminent.

Seems like this has a new maintainer now and they are fairly active. I'm going to close this out. Thanks all!
