As hurricanes (actually tropical cyclones, as technically name hurricane refers to tropical cyclones forming in the Atlantic and northeastern Pacific ocean) are going to be revamped in future 1.18.2 releases, I wanted to share my thoughts and ideas on this topic.

In 1.13 update 4 new ocean temperatures were added and, as most people know, tropical cyclones tend to form over hot seas and oceans. It would make a lot of sense if warmer variants had higher cyclone formation chance (not being equal to 0 in cold oceans, since extratropical cyclones are a real thing!)

From what I remember, 1.12.2 tropical cyclones lacked the eye. Not that they lacked "a hole" in the middle of the storm, but they lacked it being calm (that is: no world destruction and no wind (including wind sounds) or rain inside). It would make sense if there was the eye.

I would also love to see the tropical cyclones being big - way bigger than land based storms, cathegory 5 tropical cyclone could have 512 blocks wide eye and whole storm being enormous, even 2048 blocks wide. I don't know if storms this big are a bad idea, but that's how I envision revamped hurricanes.

My last thought isn't directly about hurricanes, but I think that since 1.12.2 foliage shader is going to get back into 1.18.2, I would love to see waves rendered using Beaufort scale, so they would be minimal during calm weather, and enormous during category 5 hurricane.

I really hope my thoughts won't be super difficult to implement and will be at least partially taken into consideration

Someone's definitely read the curseforge page, as you're aware of the upcoming hurricanes and foliage shaders :) +1

Agreed about ocean temperatures, but only one minus with this system is: warm ocean is quite rare, so having powerful cyclones would mean finding location near warm water

Eyes should be here 100%

I don't thing they should be bigger, i think it better would be to slow them down, and make dye slower

And last one from me that you missing: Hurricanes should be globaly and compeletly revamped, because as of 1.12.2 they're just big tornadoes

I agree, in 1.12.2 they felt so incomplete

Also, I think that they should be slower as well, but for me, they should be big - in real life they can be 480 km wide (300 miles if you despise metric system) with 32 km (20 miles) wide eye. 8192/2048/512 (total/destruction/eye width) blocks would be good, but if that's too big, the values could be divided by four (2048/512/128)
