QSIC - QBUS Storage and I/O Card

The QSIC is a QBUS card with an FPGA and SD cards that emulates the old DEC disk controllers and drives. A companion indicator panel is also available for those who want the blinkenlights.

This project has been split into separate repositories so that it works better with git. This repository primarily holds the Verilog code that runs on the FPGAs. It also holds the documentation and the paper I wrote on bus arbitration. Finally, just because there’s no more work being done on it, I’ve left the KiCad schematic for the wire-wrapped prototype here as well.

So, directories you might care about are:

board-wirewrap

KiCad design for the wire-wrap prototype board

documentation

Programming Manual for the QSIC/USIC

papers

A paper on QBUS and Unibus arbitration

verilog

The FPGA code to implement the QSIC

These directories, I’ll probably make go away at some point but, for now, I’ll leave them be.

board-prototype

KiCad design for a prototype board with 8641 bus transceivers (old idea)

board-qsic

KiCad design for the QSIC hardware

board-smt

KiCad design where I’ve been experimenting with discrete bus drivers

indicator-panel

This directory is obsolete as the indicator panel has been moved to its own project

Other QSIC-related repositories.

QSIC

The QSIC board

USIC

The USIC board

Indicator Panel

Indicator Panel PCBs and graphics inlays

Software

The software that runs on the embedded soft processor in the QSIC/USIC (not yet started)
