Any control via console?

Hi @dasrue , sorry to bug you again about a project you haven't visited in a year, but I'm wondering if there is some support to force some actions via the console? I have seen it fall into a mode where it prompts for input if a connection is lost, but am wondering if that is the only circumstance where one can initiate console-driven actions.

I might try to enhance the functionality a bit...would you be interested in merging pull requests?
