Showcase image processing at AUNZ community call #276
Comments
Hey @ragamouf, great to hear about interest in this lesson from the AU/NZ community. A couple of my co-Maintainers are based in the USA and are probably better placed - geographically-speaking - to take this one than I am. We're planning a coworking call soon, and I will put this on the agenda. I hope you can wait a couple weeks for a definitive answer? |
Thanks @tobyhodges, that would be great! |
Hi @ragamouf, @quist00 and I can team up to present and answer questions. How interested would you say your group is in hearing about each of these? A) the development process of the lesson That would help us direct some preparation. |
Thanks @deppen8, I imagine focussing on B, and potentially C would be most helpful. Your audience would largely be a cohort of new instructors looking for something useful to teach. I can ask our local mailing lists for more specific guidance if you like? |
I think knowing that B is the primary focus is enough to get us on the right track. |
Yes! We did that last week. We adapted some slides from @bobturneruk. Slides are here: https://deppen8.github.io/image-processing-aunz-community-call/#/image-processing-with-python. Repo is here: https://github.com/deppen8/image-processing-aunz-community-call |
Hello Maintainers!
I've been excited about this lesson since the how-to-teach session at CarpentryCon last year. Moreover, the AU/NZ community wants to hear about it at an upcoming regional community call!
Would anyone be interested, available in showcasing this lesson at an upcoming regional community call for AU and NZ? Anyone from the maintainer community, or practicing instructors would be very welcome.
The provisional date is Thursday 20 July, and typically these are at 2am UTC, (see in your timezone) and run for an hour. But! Happy to move the time around or explore asynchronous options.
The rough structure involves presentations for ~20mins, Q&A or breakouts for 20 mins, and introductions and wrap ups rounding out the hour.
These calls started up recently, we're keen to use these as an opportunity to spotlight new curriculum and activities across the Carpentries, especially for new instructors.
Many thanks,
Liz
