Deploy only if changes effect root directory

I want to rephrase it somehow. We don't want to deploy if changes affect the root directory as the root directory can be a build directory that git does not track. So we should provide an option that allows users to trigger a deployment if changes affect a specific directory.

I'm not sure what to call this option, though. Thoughts?
