General Questions:

  • → ~4500 TESS Objects of Interest
  • → ~130 Confirmed planets

• What can cause false positives? Comets, and?

  • Flase Alarms: data quality issues
  • False Positive: astro stuff
  • non-planet transit -- eclipsing binary from background
  • VESPA uses known catalogs/shape of eclipse to help distinguish

• If we use more generalized, astrophysical priors (rather than centered around an initial guess), can we calculate an Odds ratio/Bayesian detection statistic to assign a P_astro to TOIs?

• What do we do when we have the wrong initial guess?
