Do you recommend using badger in production?
Some time ago I've played with badger and between some commits, the file format had changed and it was not possible to read the previous data.
Also it would be nice to have some way to get updated on badger.

We don't intend to change the file format anymore. That one file format change was a pending one that we had already planned, but took longer.
I'd say you can use Badger in production, we don't intend to change APIs (only add a couple more APIs).
