Easy way to add padding to overall container

I might just be over-thinking this but…anyone know of an easy way to add padding to the overall container without having to redo all the math? For instance I'm working on a layout that needs a bg color on the main container with 20px of padding.

Any insight is appreciated.

Or actually just increasing the margin left/right from 10px to 20px for Tablet and Desktop without having to redo all the column math.
