That's the expected behavior, it needs to be running in background to send notifications.

Did you turn it on in the preferences? If you run GNOME 44+ you'll see the app listed in the background apps menu. As for how it works, it uses the background portal. It creates a .desktop file in the autostart folder with the option --startup. |
Can you tell me, which folder it is? For snaps, the background apps option isn't available. It's flatpak specific. I turned it on and logged out and logged in. Still I can't see the app running in the system monitor. |

Can you make the code more verbose, or print some error log, if the autostart was not able to set. or if xdp not working? |
It only closes when pressed ctrl+q or Quit button.
