That is a feature that, as far I remember, is found in Gnus: when replying a message with some region marked (selected text), in compose mode buffer is yanked and quoted only that region.

This iwould be hard to in mu4e, since the we get the reply messages from the backend, and there's no way to know what part was marked. So, closing this for now.

That's ok. Thank you!

Is the situation still the same? This is a feature from gnus that I sorely miss. In gnus it is gnus-article-wide-reply-with-original. If that function is invoked with the region active only the text in the region is included in the reply. Since mu4e has a buffer displaying the mail it could detect the active region and yank it and paste it into a compose buffer with all the other data from the original mail, I think.

Since I am only the second person in a decade to write about this it obviously is not a highly demanded feature, but I would take a crack at writing it if someone wanted to point me to the most relevant sections of the code to look at. Thanks.

Ten years later! This hasn't been implemented; my mid-term plan is to rework the message-composition in terms of the gnus code, so such features will hopefully be easier to implement.
