Following on #1534 This issue is to track a change request to add lifecycle management of docker cli plugins. Would like operations from the cli UX to accomplish:

  • installing plugins
  • listing installed plugins
  • updating installed plugins
  • removing installed plugins

Some specific use cases:

  • developers to easily install plugins in development flux
  • early adopters try out a plugin that is not fully-supported yet (experimental plugins)
  • lock-down plugins so only the GA plugins are available to the user
