Is there any interest for support python 2.6?
If yes, I can work on it and make a PR.

Since Python 2.6 was EOLed in 2013, I'm not too keen on supporting it. I'm happy to take a PR if the changes aren't invasive, but we only test against 2.7 at dropbox.
